Masts (aluminum), sails, rigging, trailer and engine all in good working order.
Heavily built fiberglass hull, self draining cockpits, 4 built self draining storage/cooler compartments, overbuilt hardware. Boat is very solid and overbuilt and used exclusively in fresh water lakes for the last ~25yrs.
Shallow draft permits pulling right up to beach to load/unload passengers if desired and simplifies launching/trailering process.
Can be garaged and pulled by average family car.
Can be used as a sailboat or a motor launch interchangeably, and is well suited for both roles.
Trailer is functional with full sized tires and working lights but looks ugly due to being treated with a metal reformer/prep product (which turned all exposed metal black) in preparation for painting.
Several hatch/compartment covers have chips/cracks around the edges that are noticeable when removed and turned over but all remain fully functional. A few scratches and dings that would be expected on an older boat but over all in very good condition. This is a beautiful, low maintenance, versatile boat with classic lines drawn by Halsey Herreshoff. The Herreshoff Scout had a very limited production run and shares the same hull as the Herreshoff America Catboat and Herreshoff Eagle. Thanks for looking.
